Thanks for such a thorough deep-dive, Nat!

I was bummed to see that Denmark is still not one of the countries where Claude chat is available.

But now that at least API is supported, perhaps I should consider this more technical approach. I'm definitely curious to check Claude out, it's been on my list for months!

That’s crazy. I went and looked this up - there’s different lists of supported countries for claude.ai (https://www.anthropic.com/claude-ai-locations) and the API (https://www.anthropic.com/supported-countries).

Yup, that's exactly it. It's the ony reason I'm considering checking out the API even though I'd have much preferred the noob-friendly chat interface instead. The funny thing is, when I was trying to sign up at claude.com, they even offer Denmark on the list of countries to use for you telephone number verification. But when I attempted it, I got auto-banned by their system without explanation. Fun times.

Thanks for the comprehensive deep dive. My early tinkering shows that Claude 3 is much more human-like: it uses capital words when it makes sense (e.g. do NOT press the red button) and significantly reduces the occurrence of false "I cannot help you with that" responses.

Thanks for your kind words, Paul. To be honest, I wrote this piece in a hurry. There’s no guide on connecting to the Claude 3 Opus API in C#, so I thought I could get ahead by being the first to publish one, and here it is. 😊 I only slept for 3 hours.

Impressive that you were open to changing your mind on your no paid services declaration.

Regarding, GPT-5, does the ethical design of these LLMs play a factor in your decision making of which paid services you support? Claude seems much far ahead on ethical design than ChatGPT with their constitutional ethics framework imo.
